Medical Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most successful methods of treating pain and chronic disorders the world has known. It is based on the theory that health depends upon the delicate balance and the normal flow of qi, pronounced “chi”, meaning “energy”, throughout the body. Any disturbance, aggravation or blockage in the flow of the qi along the visible pathways or meridians results in emotional/mental distress and/or physical illness or pain.

By inserting a few hair-thin sterile disposable needles into acupuncture points at various, and often seemingly unrelated locations, the acupuncturist seeks to restore balance and correct the blockage or aggravation, thereby restoring health and wellbeing. This balancing of the body energy, and re-stabling homeostasis by removing stress, can also help boost your immune system to promote optimal health

Although acupuncture has proven effective with most disorders, it is not a replacement for conventional medicines. For those who are a little hesitant to use needles, electronic acupuncture may be an alternative substitute.

Acupuncture is covered by most extended health insurance plans.
